SD.KFZ. 251 “Hanomag” (English version)
€25,00
Among the vehicles that marked the Second World War, few are as recognizable as the Sd.Kiz. 251. Its profile, with its sloped nose and open fighting compartment, has become synonymous with German mechanized infantry – the very image of the Panzergrenadiers advancing in the wake of the tanks. This armored half-track troop carrier, produced by the Hanomag company, was the vehicle that enabled the Wehrmacht to overcome one of the most complex tactical problems of armored warfare: keeping the infantry in step with the Panzers. In German nomenclature, it was classified as the Mittlerer Schützenpanzerwagen («medium armored infantry vehicle»). Its usefulness was such that the German army also developed a shorter and lighter vehicle, the Sd.Kfz. 250, for reconnaissance and support duties. In all its versions and variants, the Sd.Kfz. 251 was employed on all fronts – from North Africa to Russia, from France to Italy – becoming the workhorse of German armored infantry and one of the most enduring symbols of the Third Reich’s military might.
